Job Summary Tesla is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong automation and commissioning background to join the development team (CAE - Core Automation Engineering). The primary focus of this role is to commission and support Tesla's in-house AMR fleet and related automation, working with the CAE team on production-line integration at Tesla factories. CAE creates elegant automation solutions to build and assemble Tesla products across manufacturing areas (Body in White, Paint, Casting, General Assembly, Drive Unit, Battery). Primary focus is hands-on commissioning and continuous improvement of internally developed AMRs, with strong PLC ownership for line and interface integration. The candidate will work with international teams and apply practical automation skills in a manufacturing environment. This position is based at our Gigafactory facility in China producing the Model 3 and Model Y.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (or transferable industry experience) 2+ years of experience in automation, AGV commissioning with hands-on PLC work Hands-on AGV experience (commissioning, integration, or fleet support) strongly preferred PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal required), including automation system troubleshooting Software skills (Python required) and basic knowledge of database applications (MySQL preferred) ROS / ROS2 experience is a strong plus Proficiency in oral and written English Comply with company regulations and work strictly in accordance with work instructions.
