高级热塑性材料工程师 Sr. Materials Engineer, thermoplastic

The team is seeking a Polymer Materials Engineer who can devote the efforts into “Engineering Materials”. This role will be representing Tesla Materials Engineering in China for innovative material/process development. This role will cover polymeric materials and have a special focus on soft trim development and thermoplastic. This role will reside at the Tesla factory in Shanghai. RESPONSIBILITIES • You should have a solid understanding of polymer materials development, characterization, and application, and proficient in designing material structure synthesis/polymerization experiments. You are expected to design and assemble philosophy independently. • Leading specific soft trims (artificial leather, textiles, carpeting, et al) and other thermoplastic materials innovation, development and launch. • Support on-going material application processes for soft trim from work with design engineering, Tier1 and material supplier to ensure solution is robust and optimized. • Lead process validation for new processes (extrusion, mold injection... etc). • Develop new material strategies for both soft trim and thermoplastic materials. • Represent Tesla at local material suppliers in China. • Manage soft trim / thermoplastic material approvals for local material suppliers in China.

• Polymer or Materials Engineering degree. Advanced degrees are nice but equivalent work experience can be as or more valuable. • Solid background and knowledge in various material properties and process-structure-properties understanding. Proficient in basic theoretical knowledge (Thermodynamics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics…etc.). • Familiar with material structure/performance analysis or characterization equipment operation principles, familiar with how to process data, covering fields including but not limited to structure, thermodynamics, chromatography, mechanics, apparent properties… etc. • 5 years + experience working with soft trim and thermal plastic material development. • Hands-on experience with standard analytical tools (FTIR, DSC, Rheometry, DMA, etc.). • Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to manage projects independently. • Good communication and presentation abilities.
