Tesla is seeking an Test Equipment Engineer (Mechanical) within R&D Operations Management to own preventive maintenance (PM), vendor management, and out-of-warranty closure for environmental and mechanical lab assets. This role will also run equipment ledger and sample-audit operations, and support mechanical landing, acceptance, and onboarding of in-house developed/built equipment to keep lab assets safe, available, and traceable. Responsibilities Own PM planning and execution for environmental chambers, ovens, cooling systems, lifts, selected NVH/dyno and general mechanical assets; escort vendors on site, complete acceptance and archiving, and update the equipment ledger; cover mechanical PM/repair for in-house equipment and drive overdue/out-of-warranty closure. Maintain critical ledger fields and operations dashboard data; issue monthly sample-audit lists and track corrective actions to closure; draft monthly operations reports and provide cost/hour inputs for maintenance budgeting. Support in-house equipment development and build landing on the mechanical side: review manufacturability, installability, and maintainability; follow prototype/assembly and on-site install-debug; lead mechanical/environmental acceptance; onboard assets to the ledger with baseline inspection/PM criteria and spare-parts recommendations; feed failure findings back to design. Triage mechanical/environmental exceptions, define repair approaches, and coordinate critical vendor emergency response; develop and train inspection and PM SOPs. Enforce LOTO and permit-to-work
任职要求
recommend stoppage and escalate hazards when needed; partner with lab owners, vendors, and project stakeholders, and collaborate with the Electrical/Electronics Engineer on the mechanical portion of mechatronic integration. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, HVAC, automotive engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in lab/test equipment operations & maintenance, preventive maintenance, or equipment engineering; experience with chambers, lifts, test benches, or fixture build is preferred. Solid understanding of PM versus routine inspection; able to review vendor maintenance packages and acceptance reports; basic drawing and assembly literacy to support in-house equipment landing. Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and discipline in ledger/plan operations; proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration. Ability to read equipment technical documentation in English is preferred; strong commitment to EHS with no major safety violations. Experience with TPM/PM systems, special equipment/metrology, in-house fixture/bench landing, or project/budget management is a plus.
