Tesla is seeking an Test Equipment Engineer (Electrical / Electronics) within R&D Operations Management, also serving as Technical Specialist, to own preventive maintenance (PM), technical gatekeeping, and electrical safety for electrical and electronics lab assets. This role will support escalations, Class-A sample-audit judgment, and refresh training, and will enable electrical landing, integration debug, and safety acceptance of in-house developed/built equipment to keep lab assets safe, available, and traceable. Responsibilities Own PM planning, technical package review, acceptance, and report confirmation for electronic instruments, power/distribution, EMC/RF interfaces, DAQ, and HIL/bench electrical systems; define vendor versus in-house work boundaries; track contractual milestones and escalate delays; validate critical electrical fields in the equipment ledger. Support in-house equipment development and build landing on the electrical side: review power distribution, signal interfaces, interlocks, e-stop, grounding, and EMC; follow drawings, cabinet harness, and wiring quality; lead pre-power checks and electrical/system integration debug; complete electrical safety and functional acceptance with release conditions; onboard inspection/PM points and critical spares; close the loop with design on failures. Serve as the electrical safety escalation interface to assess, isolate, and advise on whether testing may continue; act as on-site technical representative for major failures and repairs; participate in electrical safety checks for new labs or moves; recommend stoppage and escalate severe hazards when required. As Technical Specialist: support Class-A sample-audit technical judgment and dispute input; lead cross ME/EE boundary issues or clarify ownership; deliver planned refresh training; improve inspection/PM SOPs and grading guidance; support professional content for Equipment Owner training and certification. Coach inspection technicians on proper reporting and safe isolation; support internal/external inspections; provide justification for electrical PM needs in budgeting; enforce electrical work and first-power safety rules; collaborate closely with the Environment/Mechanical Engineer, lab owners, and in-house equipment project stakeholders.
任职要求
Bachelor’s degree or above in electrical engineering, automation, electronics, power electronics, instrumentation and control, or a related field. 3–5+ years of experience in electrical equipment operations & maintenance, commissioning, or repair in lab, test-bench, production-line, or vendor environments; bench/DAQ integration or in-house electrical landing experience is preferred. Strong electrical safety foundation; able to read schematics and wiring diagrams; capable of leading technical review, integration debug, and acceptance. Clear communicator on risk, hands-on problem solver, and effective trainer; strong cross-discipline collaboration skills. Ability to read technical documentation in English and conduct basic technical communication; strong commitment to EHS with no major safety incidents. Experience in EMC/RF/HV/HIL, system integration, electrician licensing, functional safety/lab QMS, or global vendor interface is a plus.
