Data Engineer Intern

Support the development of backend services and APIs to support WeChat's product and data needs. ● Build and maintain large-scale data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analytics across distributed systems. ● Work with the data platform team to optimize storage and query performance on systems such as ClickHouse, Hive, and Apache Iceberg. ● Contribute to real-time data streaming infrastructure using tools such as Apache Pulsar or Kafka. ● Collaborate with product and data teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. ● Participate in code reviews and system design discussions with a strong eagerness to learn.

Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or similar quantitative field. ● Proficiency in at least one backend programming language: Python, Java, C/C++, or Go. ● Familiarity with big data ecosystems and tools such as Spark, Hive, Iceberg, ClickHouse, Kafka, or Apache Pulsar is a strong plus. ● Understanding of distributed systems concepts (e.g. data partitioning, replication, fault tolerance) is preferred. ● Self-driven, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced collaborative environment. ● Fluency in both English and Mandarin to work effectively with international teams and stakeholders based in HQ.
