Direct Procurement Manager - Battery Raw Mats

You’ll be responsible for the creation of long‑term strategic plans and, where required, contract framework agreements. You’ll be accountable for the Strategic Commodity Dossier (SCD), ensuring it is continuously refreshed with the latest market intelligence, supply‑base developments and legislative changes to support robust strategic recommendations. You’ll obtain, understand and track the economic drivers for cost and volatility in global battery raw material markets. You’ll develop deep expertise in pricing structures, cost drivers and value‑chain dynamics, informed by macro‑economic, political and technological influences. You’ll map and evaluate risk across the full value chain—from upstream extraction through midstream processing to cell manufacturing T1 suppliers —and assess the potential impact across JLR’s battery bill of materials. You’ll support the development of mitigation strategies with subject matter experts and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership. You’ll explore the global supplier market and engage with key players across the battery ecosystem. This includes upstream sourcing activities to identify, assess and direct new opportunities into JLR’s supply base, strengthening long‑term security of supply and supporting strategic diversification. You’ll gather insights from suppliers, industry bodies and market intelligence to identify opportunities for cost reduction, value creation and improved commercial leverage. You’ll translate these insights into actionable strategies that enhance JLR’s competitiveness. You’ll identify, align and implement internal and external RASIs to enable effective cross‑functional collaboration with BRMs and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity of ownership, accountability and delivery across strategic initiatives. You’ll assess CO₂e impact associated with your commodity groups and work closely with the Sustainability team to shape the decarbonisation roadmap for battery raw materials. You’ll monitor emerging compliance legislation—including battery passport

, recycled content mandates and other evolving regulatory frameworks—and ensure JLR’s sourcing strategies remain compliant, future‑proof and aligned with global policy direction. You’ll contribute to creating a more resilient and lower‑cost supply chain by proactively identifying structural risks, diversification opportunities and long‑term partnerships that support JLR’s electrification strategy.
