combines PLC/HMI work on production systems with software support for internal digitalization and simulation tooling. CAE creates elegant automation solutions to build and assemble Tesla products across manufacturing areas (Body in White, Paint, Casting, General Assembly, Drive Unit, Battery). You will grow across controls and software, support manufacturing environments at Gigafactory China (Model 3 / Model Y), and contribute to early-stage platform work without needing prior ownership of large simulation programs. This position is based at our Gigafactory facility in China producing the Model 3 and Model Y. Responsibilities Support design, programming, and commissioning of manufacturing automation, with a mix of PLC/HMI and software tasks Help build and maintain internal tools and software that support controls engineering (scripts, data interfaces, validation helpers) Collaborate with controls and software engineers on practical automation and digitalization tasks Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems Contribute to internal simulation / virtual commissioning experiments (e.g. process simulation and, where relevant, Isaac Sim exploration) to evaluate usefulness for controls workflows - early-stage, collaborative work, not a standalone product team Support supplier technical reviews, testing, and commissioning activities with senior engineers Comply with company regulations and work strictly in accordance with work instructions. Actively identify potential safety hazards, report safety hazards and incidents in a timely manner, and propose reasonable safety improvement suggestions. Continuously improve to create a safe and healthy working environment.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (or transferable industry experience) 2+ years of experience with project covering both PLC/automation and software PLC and HMI programming (Siemens TIA Portal required), including automation system troubleshooting Software skills (Python required) and basic knowledge of database applications (MySQL preferred) Interest to work with simulation/virtual environments is a plus (e.g. Process Simulate, Isaac Sim) Proficiency in oral and written English
